Silvassa is a town on the Daman Ganga river in western India, bordering the state of Gujarat. Formerly under Portuguese rule, it’s known for its varied tribal heritage, explored at the Tribal Cultural Museum through objects like masks and musical instruments. When to visit
Silvassa has a tropical climate with warm weather year-round and a rainy season Jun–Sep. Temperatures peak in May. A popular time to visit is Oct–Jan, when temperatures are slightly cooler and it’s relatively dry. The Tarpa Festival (Dec) celebrates the region’s tribal culture with special dances and music, usually performed at night.
